On 2 APR 20, LTC Sargis Sangari, Republican Nominee for U.S. Congress, 9th District, Illinois, was interviewed on the Hard Question by Blanquita Cullum on the Votesangari Team community-based initiatives to fight the Coronavirus.
The #votesangari Team has transitioned from election mode to initiatives that are geared to helping our local community with initiatives that can help win the fight against the Coronavirus.
Create: The Vote Sangari team created the Family Support Group (FSG) initiative in the 9thCongressional District in support of our first responders and their families linked to the Legion of Saint Michael Law Enforcement MC. As a retired LTC serving in the U.S. Army, my wife and I lead our unit FSG which supported the families of our unit soldiers and their families. Now, our votesangari FSG initiative will be used as a benchmark that may be replicated to support the families of first responders across the nation by ensuring our men and women on the front lines of this fight can concentrate on their essential missions in service to our country. Once I am elected as the Representative of the 9th Congressional District of Illinois, we will enact legislation that safeguards our first responders and their families. This is an important lesson learned from the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Support: The Vote Sangari team communicated with several local food banks, which need a lot of support given their requirements have doubled since the federal, state, and local governments issued orders to shelter-in-place. We encourage people to give what they can. Below are a few of the food banks in the 9th District that need your support.
– Niles Government Township, 5255 Lincoln Ave, Skokie, IL 60077
– Self Help Closet & Food Pantry, 600 E Algonquin Rd, Des Plaines, IL 60016 Wheeling Food Pantry, 101 N Wolf Rd, Wheeling, IL 60090
– Hillside Free Methodist Church, 2727 Crawford Ave, Evanston, IL 60201
Sustain/Supply: The Vote Sangari team will be giving blood through local blood drives held in the 9th District to support and replenish the nation’s vital blood supply during this COVID-19 crisis. I am currently scheduled to give blood on Monday, April 13th with Vitalant (https://www.vitalant.org) location on 2436 Main St, Evanston, IL 60202. There are several other blood donation facilities located in and around the 9th District such as Arlington Heights, IL. You can contact vitalant to enter your zip code and see which facility will need your support.
Always remember “one team one fight!” and lets win this war as soon as we can while making sure we save as many of our fellow Americans as we can.
